Cars in German City Discovered Covered with Nazi Symbols in Blood, Police State

Incident location Affected vehicle Local Law Enforcement
Authorities stated they were notified by a man who discovered a vehicle in Hanau marked with red-colored substance

Roughly 50 cars have been marked with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's town of Hanau close to Frankfurt, police confirm police.

Cars, exterior walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement state they were alerted late on Wednesday night, when a individual noticed that a car in the Lamboy district of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish liquid.

The substance had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they added.

Law enforcement then found numerous other vandalized vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are banned in Germany under laws banning the public exhibition of Nazi symbols.

Police say initial examinations indicate the liquid was most likely human blood.

"There is still no clue as to where it came from; officials are not yet informed of any injuries in connection with the occurrence," they added.

Local authorities said they were attempting "to resolve the case" and have appealed to the residents for information.

A high-ranking political figure said the vandalism made him without words and needed to be solved quickly.

"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the extremist attack five years ago," he stated on online, recalling the death of nine victims by a gunman focusing on people of immigrant origin in five years prior.
