World Series Game 7 Draws Over 50 Million Viewers In the US, Canadian and Japan Regions.

The exciting extra-inning clash where the Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays 5-4 averaged a total 51M watchers in the United States, Canada, and Japanese territories. MLB announced this represents the highest-rated Fall Classic Game 7 since the 1991 showdown between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Details

Last Saturday’s memorable contest averaged 27.33M viewers on Fox networks, Fox Deportes and Fox’s streaming platforms. Per Nielsen, it was the second highest-rated broadcast of the week.

It also stands as the top-rated Fall Classic game since the 2017 edition Game 7 involving the Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a sixteen percent improvement compared to the last Game 7 featuring the Washington Nationals and Astros, which drew 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, Game 6 ranked 4th, Game 4 was seventh, Game 5 came in 8th, and Game 3 finished in thirteenth position.

Global Audience Figures

In Canada, the game recorded 11.6 million watchers on the Sportsnet network and the French-language TVA Sports. This was the highest-rated English program in the country after the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In Japan, where the deciding contest started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it attracted 12 million viewers. This followed last Friday’s Game 6 – where Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yoshinobu Yamamoto allowed one run in six frames – averaged over 13 million spectators, making it the highest-rated World Series game on a single network in the country.

Overall Averages and Trends

The entire seven-match World Series averaged over 15.7 million viewers on Fox, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers-Yankees matchup. This marks the first time since 2015 and ‘16 that the World Series has seen viewership growth for two consecutive years.

Counting the Game 1 telecast on Univision, the complete American average was over 16 million. The total World Series viewership in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox, FS1 and FS2 recorded 8.09M viewers, an 8% increase compared to the previous year and the network’s best playoff performance since the 2017 season.

MLB reported that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by 44 media partners in sixteen different languages.
